He will explain how our food choices have far greater ramifications than most of us realize, especially for peace and social justice. He offers powerful ways we can all experience healing and peace and contribute to a positive transformation of human consciousness. Dr. Tuttle has delivered hundreds of lectures and seminars throughout North America and writes a bimonthly column, "Food for Thought" for VegNews magazine. In addition, he holds a Ph.D. in education from University of California at Berkeley, focusing on educating intuition and altruism.

Please bring a vegan dish or beverage to share; also, to reduce waste, please bring your own plate, cup and serving and eating vessels. RSVP to Tracey Glover by May 21 by calling 202-420-0741.

Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver

Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 7:30pm

"This book chronicles the year that Barbara Kingsolver, along with her husband and two daughters, made a commitment to become locavores those who eat only locally grown foods... For teens who grew up on supermarket offerings, the notion not only of growing one's own produce but also of harvesting one's own poultry was as foreign as the concept that different foods relate to different seasons." --School Library Journal. At this meeting we also vote for two upcoming books.

VSDC members and friends who have read at least half the book are welcome. RSVP by Monday, May 26 for the location and directions. [More information about our book club]
