Vegetarian Society of DC

Welcome to the Vegetarian Society of DC!

The Vegetarian Society of the District of Columbia (VSDC) promotes the benefits of vegetarianism through educational and social activities and events throughout the DC metro area.

VSDC events are open to all members and non-members, vegetarians, vegans, future vegetarians, casual vegetarians, and all others but we encourage you to join us to support vegetarian living in the DC area.

VSDC members receive our award-winning quarterly newsletter, VSDC News, and receive valuable discounts at many area restaurants and other businesses through our VSDC GreenRewards®  Discount Program. If you are looking for someone to speak about the benefits of vegetarianism at an event, consider our Speakers' Bureau.

VSDC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is governed by an all-volunteer elected Board of Directors. Additional volunteers perform much of the work of VSDC. Donations are gladly accepted.

Run for the Animals!

picture from a recent Run for the Animals

On May 19, join Team VSDC at the 10th annual Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary's Run for the Animals. Be a part of the 5K run or 1 mile fun walk and help Team VSDC take home the coveted Pigasus trophy.

Runners of all levels are encouraged. Only the top 2 times for men and women will count, so no need to worry about holding the team back. The more the merrier!

Click here to join Team VSDC and click here for more details on the event.

Founded in 1927, VSDC is the nation's oldest continuously operating vegetarian society.
VSDC welcomes people wherever they are on the path toward an all plant-based diet.
